USB MASS STORAGE DEVICES FOR THE IYONIX PC

Castle announce today the availability of support for USB storage devices for the IYONIX pc. Using the plug & play features and fast data transfer protocols of USB, Castle have added access to the following USB mass data storage devices:

• USB hard drives in native RISC OS "FileCore" format and PC "FAT xx" format
• USB flash devices (keyrings, memory cards, card readers etc)
• USB digital cameras
• USB removable cartridge drives (ZIP etc)
• USB MP3 players

RISC OS users should ensure that any device conforms to one the following conformant, non-vendor specific, USB mass storage classes (08 06 00, 08 06 01, 08 06 80).

These products are in addition to USB devices already supported by the IYONIX pc such as:

• USB printers
• USB scanners (including film scanners)
• USB keyboard (inc multimedia)
• USB 3 button mice (inc scroll)
• USB hubs
• USB trackerballs
• USB KVM switches
• USB to parallel printer cables
• USB graphics tablets
• USB bar code scanners
• USB to serial converters
• USB to PS2 converters

A compatibility database is available at http://www.iyonix.com/usb/ to which users can add further device details in addition to those already verified by Castle.

Some USB devices may need specific drivers - please contact Castle or your peripheral supplier for more details.

USB Support for Mass Storage Devices on the IYONIX pc

This is a free upgrade for all existing IYONIX pc users through the IYONIX pc update system. It is one of a new range of "SCSISoft" modules which make use of the abstracted SCSI filing system announced in May 2003.
